1927 Case Threshing Machine

Originally purchased by Mick Wagner and Albert Stahl in 1927. At one point this thresher worked on 14 farms in Lake County Illinois, including the 100 acre Stahl Farm, during harvest time in August-October mostly for oats for the dairy farmers. The purpose of a Threshing Machine was to remove the seeds from the stalks and husks. Before Threshing Machines “threshing” was done with a handheld “hail”. Threshing was very hard work and very time consuming. Threshers were use until 1950 when Combine Threshers starting arriving on farms. This 1927 Case Thresher was last used in 1968 on the Wagner Farm and after that it made its way to be owned by the Lake County Farm Heritage Association as you see it today.

Barrel Train

Our Barrel Train was custom made by members of our club, A group of members built the train at the Dilg Farm and each barrel was sent home with members to paint each barrel in their own style to reflect the variety of loyalties to specific brands of equipment.
